Carmelo Anthony's wish (to get out of the New York Knicks Organization) has finally come true. On Saturday morning it was announced that the New York Knicks have finally completed a trade for Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Carmelo Traded to The Oklahoma City Thunder - The New Big 3
This comes after Carmelo added two new teams to his list of teams he'd be willing to waive his trade clause for (See: CLE or OKC? Carmelo Adds The Cavs, OKC To His List of Trade Options) and after New York was unable to complete a deal with the Houston Rockets. A few days ago, Knicks GM Scott Perry said that they would expect their All-Star forward to be at training camp on Monday, however after a regular season and off-season filled with trade rumors and drama, the Knicks finally found a trade partner in the Oklahoma City Thunder. This trade puts Anthony onto a stacked Oklahoma City lineup that includes 2016-2017 NBA MVP Russell Westbrook and NBA All-Star Paul George, who was acquired from the Indiana Pacers this summer.
With the trade deal in place, one of the most talked about trades in the NBA off-season is finally reaching some closure. Included in the deal, The New York Knicks will receive Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and Chicago Bulls' 2nd-round draft pick in the 2018 NBA draft.
Carmelo and the Thunder will matchup against The New York Knicks on the opening day of their NBA regular season at Oklahoma City on Oct. 19.
Carmelo's Off-season Preparation
Carmelo kept busy in the offseason with his now notorious "hoodie workouts," donning a hoodie in his workout and practice videos that were posted on the internet. On October 19th we'll get a chance to see how he Anthony performs and whether or not he can stick it to his old team.
